The MELFA Smart Plus card brings next-generation artificial intelligence to MELFA robots. It supports predictive and preventive maintenance by, among other things, monitoring the wear and tear of service elements such as lubricants and belts, robot mechanical components, gears, bearings, and ball screws. The card also detects faulty drive parts, thereby reducing the downtime of production equipment. The MELFA Smart Plus also improves robot arm force control by making force sensor configuration easier.

Improved monitoring of machine conditions

The MELFA Smart Plus card, with its enhanced features supporting predictive maintenance, reduces the risk of failures and unplanned production downtime. Potentially defective parts or malfunctions are detected before irregularities in robot behaviour become apparent. This makes it possible to schedule any necessary repairs in such a way that they do not interfere with the production schedule. The card makes it possible to integrate robots with existing maintenance management systems. This gives employees faster access to information on the condition of machines and allows them to take corrective action in advance. The card is also useful in the event of a potential collision between robots; it predicts the potential danger, allowing for an appropriate response. This feature not only reduces downtime, but also increases operational safety.

Faster calibration is possible

The MELFA Smart Plus card is also equipped with a calibration support function. Among other things, this enables automatic integration of the robot with the vision sensor. It also makes it easier to calibrate robots and peripherals, as well as the relative position between a robot and, for example, a collaborative robot.
